I guess what makes me sad is knowing Neopets is dying.
I know it has a limited time left, but it was such a huge part of my childhood and so crucial to sparking a lot of interests that are key parts of who I am as a person now. Letting go of it is hard, but a surrogate site would be nice. The difficulty in that is that even though Neo is completely borked, there aren't any sites that have the sheer amount of content and variety. Most sites are either extremely focused on one topic, or are cluttered with energy and pay to win systems. Just checked out Flight Rising too, because I thought it sounded pretty awesome. It reminded me of another game I used to play if you're into that breeding/selling/trading-pet game. It's called Wajas.I just logged into my account I havent touched in ages:P I used to play all the time.
And I got really into it after I played a game called VirtualPups, and their then-sister game VirtualHorseRanch. The community is still really tight on VHR, I think. But VP (sadly) stopped being such a tight community after it changed game developers. I had never heard of Kingdom of Loathing, but I just Googled it and it reminded me of a game I used to play called Improbable Island. I got really into it but it faded after I beat the Improbability Drive (one of your goals on the site), but I highly recommend checking it out:)Also, I just wanted to add that I used to play Millsberry too to 'scratch the itch', as you put it, and I was really really sad when it closed down. I played Gaia as well (little more anime style, which isn't me) which was similar in that you have a person as your avatar.

Is this okay to ask here?I tried to get into Flight Rising because I think the Coliseum is great but I just don't love Dragons. Games like Lioden, Clanheart, and Subeta seem interesting but it feels like it's really difficult to get into these long standing games with no knowledge of how to play them. With Neo I've been playing since I was 11/12ish (I'm 27) so I feel like I know more than I don't know, if that makes sense.I'm following Dappervolk closely now.
I missed Alpha but am looking forward to Beta! What does everyone else play?. I love Subeta's freedom but it's hard to get into the community (also my account is. Having issues to say the least)Flight rising was cool and I thought would fit my pet addiction, but idk the lack of codeing customization and how pain in the ass it got when feeding a large clan was too much. Also the market was bad imoPlayed furvilla for a bit but uh. Mods are iffy.
I made my villagers just minutes after the full release so I wonder how much they're worth now heheSo really the only petsite I follow now is Neopets and Kaylune! Kaylune is just a couple years old now, but they're doing a plot I need to jump back into.I'm also keeping my eye on dappervolk. It looks soooo pretty!!. Oh man, I joined a ton of pet sites as a kid - Powerpets, Marapets, Furry Paws, you name it haha. The only one other than Neopets I've spent any time on in recent years though is Subeta - the bump from G-rated to like PG-13 is really frickin' nice tbh.
They also have openly LGBT characters and pretty neat lore, and (as someone who used to also be really big into avatar sites lol) I like the human avatar aspect a lot. The actual pets aren't nearly as emphasized as on Neo though, they're almost kind of a side thing. It's been a couple years since I was last active on Subeta but I remember the main way of making sP was by doing quests, if that helps:PI also tried to get into Flight Rising, but I'm not really into dragons either so it just didn't hold my interest. Dappervolk looks gorgeous though, I'm getting Animal Crossing vibes from it! I'm also excited to hear that Leopets is opening up again, I first heard about it when they shut down and I was pretty bummed that I missed it.(Also I'm happy to see people mentioning Tamagotchis and GigaPets and the Petz games haha! I was really into those when I was younger too, I actually just found my copy of Petz 3 again and played that for the first time in years recently:D).
